Where it all began
In 2019, Keionna & Cherena co-founded The Elephant in the Room after heading a diversity and inclusion initiative at one of Louisville's premier collaborative workplaces.
Through their personal career experiences, they quickly realized that companies, small and large, not only needed training in what diversity and inclusion looked and felt like but also needed guidance in how to have conversations otherwise considered taboo.

Co-Leader of the Herd
Currently, Cherena serves as a consultant, advisor, and tutor with the local non-profit Sowing Seeds with Faith. A dedicated community leader, she is also a mom and a Facebook community powerhouse, managing three thriving Facebook groups that serve over 16,000 members on topics ranging from parenting to investing. Her commitment to fostering inclusive workplace environments led her to co-found The Elephant in the Room, where she tackles tough topics and advocates for meaningful organizational change.
Previously, Cherena was the GEDDI Program Director of Just Boss Up Academy, where she developed impactful programming to help entrepreneurs master business basics, expand their professional networks, and access mentorship and resources crucial for their success. During her time at Just Boss Up, she helped grow the program to over 100 graduates and counting. A Louisville native, Cherena holds degrees from the University of Louisville and Indiana University Southeast.

Keionna is dedicated to building community within entrepreneurial ecosystems. Formerly the Director of Community Engagement at Amplify Louisville, she enriched the journeys of tech-enabled founders by providing crucial support for launching, growing, and scaling their companies. Specializing in program development, she collaborated with partner organizations to advance Amplify’s mission of founder success.
As Co-founder of The Elephant in the Room, Keionna is a passionate advocate for creating people-centered corporate cultures. Her approach to corporate training emphasizes culture transformation, empathy, and accountability, enhancing both workplace environments and business performance. Previously, she served her community as a board member of Venture Connectors and on the board of the Network of Entrepreneurial Women. A proud University of Louisville alumna, Keionna graduated as a Porter Scholar in 2011 with a degree in Communications, grounding her career in a commitment to positive change and community impact.
